Intricately designed handmade wooden pieces for your home, founded by Rose Fernandez back in 2014 .The word, "MERAKI" is a Greek term for "PASSION". Rose, who creates each wooden piece with much intricacy and creativity is never short of passion. She has always been keen on arts and crafts, as she has been teaching in preschool for more than 25 years. Seeing woodburning products for sale sparked an interest in Rose consequently kick starting her search for a woodburning machine. She came across an artist named Henry Galicha Jr. who practices woodburning in creating his crafts. Henry then became a mentor to Rose, sharing tips and tricks with regard to honing the craft. Rose can use her machine on practically any wooden object - utensils, trays, bowls, handles, hangers, etc. She creates each piece from scratch with the help of her assistant, Larry. On other occasions, Rose works with ready-made plain wooden materials that she purchases from suppliers. Rose uses local wood such as mango, kamachili, kamagong, acacia and pinewood. The design usually depends on the client's requests - they may request for a customized design or may simply allow freehand to Rose. She then begins her craft by sketching on the wooden pieces with her own original design using a pencil. Afterwards, she traces the wood with her special woodburning machine. Every now and then, she collaborates with An artist named Erika Sagum who helps in bringing life to simple wooden objects. Meraki Wood Burning has been around for a little over two years now, growing each day as Rose shares her incredible artistry to different households. Her products can brighten any home, kitchen or bedroom and can even be given as thoughtful gifts to friends and family.
